Goodwood Tip: Treacherous
Handicapper has him 15lbs lower on turf but handled surface well when second at Haydock. Keen early, then travelled strongly but couldn't see off winner. Likely to be suited by drop in trip.
Treacherous is rated on the all-weather and the handicapper has given him a real chance off 75 on turf. His record on grass is 0/6 but his last run at Haydock suggests he can go on the green stuff.
Racing over 7f, he was keen during the early part of the race despite the gallop being a fair one. He was still travelling strongly going into the home straight but a comibniation of the extra furlong and his early exertions meant he didn’t quite have enough to fight off the deep closing Shady McCoy.
It was still a very pleasing effort. He was the second fastest closer and he earned a good speed rating, getting close to the efforts he managed on the all-weather.
A drop in grade and trip work in his favour and he looks a good thing.
