Goodwood Tip: Julie Johnston

Set an overly strong pace at York (99.4% finishing speed) but still fastest closer and clocked good speed rating under the circumstances. This her 5th start but it's just started to click.

Julie Johnston is one of the most experience runners in the 4.20 Goodwood and that exposed form might put some people of but I think she is underrated. She’s won two of her last three starts and her victory at York was a real step-up in performance.

Silvestre De Sousa set a very strong pace (every horse was slowing down at the finish suggesting the gallop was overly generous) but Julie Johnston was able to dominate with the quickest opening and closing sectionals of the race. Put it all together and she clocked a good speed rating, when adjusting for the pace it becomes 76 above her handicap mark.

Zamaani is still the horse to beat but Julie Johnston, a quirky horse, seems to be getting her act together and is a big danger.
