Goodwood: Caroline Dale

Only beaten a head at Windsor when perhaps disadvantaged by racing up the centre of the track; away from the winner. Has plenty of speed, handles cut and was third in last year's Queen Mary.

The market for the 5.20 Goodwood is dominated by Twilight Calls but he’s too short in a big field and in opposition i’m siding with Caroline Dale. She handles soft ground, has won over the minimum trip and has plenty of speed.

After a below par effort at Chester, she bounced back to form with a good second at Windsor. Beaten only a head, she was potentially unlucky as she raced away from the winner, up the centre of the track when the far side is often the place to be when riding soft.

She has a heft handicap mark to contend with but she was third in last year’s Queen Mary so has a bit of class. She is the value bet.
