Golden Rose Stakes: Burmese Waltz

Her all-weather record is 112 but she is largely ignored in the betting because of her poor form on turf. She is unexposed and her speed ratings suggests she has loads of ability.

The front of the market looks well organised for the 3.40 Lingfield but there’s a couple of outsiders I like. Burmese Waltz and Shimmering Dawn finished one-two at Kempton back in June. The time suggests it was an above average race for the grade yet both are largely forgotten in the betting.

In truth i’d be happy to dutch the pair but if I had to pick one it would be Burmese Waltz. This is only her 10th start and she is potentially unexposed and her all-weather record is 113. Her price is largely down to her poor recent form on turf but perhaps that isn’t the surface for her. It should be noted that her best run on grass was second in the Silver Wokingham at Ascot, a turf track that historically has helped all-weather horses.

She has plenty to find on official ratings but these are her conditions and I liked the way she battled back to beat Shimmering Dawn. She could run better than the odds suggest.
