Gleneagles Worthy Guineas Favourite

Gleneagles Worthy Guineas Favourite

Was the best horse in the Jean-Luc Lagardere despite losing the race in the steward’s room. Potentially well drawn in stall 16.

Aidan O’Brien has won four of the last ten renewals of the 2000 Guineas and it is hard to look beyond Gleneagles for the first classic of the season.

The Galileo-colt lost the Jean-Luc Lagardere in the steward’s room but he was the best horse in the race and the form is strong.

Thanks to the sectional work undertaken by Timeform, we know the race was run at a solid gallop (102.3% finishing speed) and the way he flew past his rivals in the home-straight made him a merited winner, despite what the French stewards believe.

With the stalls positioned against the stand’s rail for the first time, a high draw should be advantageous. Any risk of traffic problems is still preferable to being marooned in the centre of the track.

It’s hard to find anything to oppose Gleneagles with and 7/2 (William Hill) is a fair price.
