Fintas Ready To Strike
Finding his feet for new connections after winter in Dubai didn't go to plan. Finished down field on last two starts but jockeys didn't get tactics right. Even in defeat shaped with promise.
Fintas hasn’t been with David O’Meara long and he’s got the type of profile his excellent trainer can exploit. A two-time winner at Chelmsford for Richard Hughes he was highly regarded enough to spend the winter in Dubai. Unfortunately Listed and Group contests proved beyond him and he’s on a recovery mission with his new trainer.
On paper finishes of 676 don’t inspire confidence but at Sandown he was the second fastest closer, having sat too far back in a race run at a steady gallop. At Goodwood the opposite happened and he was too close to a strong pace. In each of those defeats he ran a fair speed rating for the grade and hopefully connections get the tactics spot-on this afternoon.
I believe Fintas to be a good deal better than his mark of 86 and he should prove the handicapper wrong very soon.
