Exeter Tips: Hinterland

Suffered a couple of setbacks last season, unseated at Cheltenham and ran as if something amiss at Aintree but still a very talented horse.

A normally mundane Tuesday afternoon is brightened by a fascinating renewal of the Haldon Gold Cup.

Cue Card heads the handicap and he’s a special horse but a combination of the weight, trip and bigger targets down the line make him is one to oppose.

Somersby looks to defend his title but isn’t getting younger and therefore attention falls on the six and seven year olds.

Hinterland was an impressive novice last season, winning at Sandown in a quicker time than Sire De Grugy’s Tingle Creek victory on the same card.

Surprisingly he went for the Champion Chase instead of the Arkle at Cheltenham but was going well until hampered and unseating four out.

He is obviously held in very high regard and although he flopped at Aintree, he isn’t one to give up on yet and has a good record when fresh.
