Epsom Derby Trial: Cracksman

Epsom Derby Trial: Cracksman

Impressed at Newmarket last year, earning a sectional adjusted speed rating of 98. He’s in the right hands.

The 2.45 Epsom is a strong renewal of the Derby Trial and as we’ve seen already this season, John Gosden holds the key.

Both Tartini and Cracksman ran big speed figures on debut as juveniles and when accounting for pace I rated them close to 100.

With an obvious a pair of smart horses it’s hard picking between the two, but I must side with Cracksman. His victory was slightly more impressive, he raced away from the pack at Newmarket and when Wild Tempest joined him, he pulled out some more.

The booking of Frankie Dettori is another positive (assuming he had the choice of the pair), with the Italian enjoyed a fantastic 38% strike rate over the last fortnight.
