Epsom Dash Tips: Excessable

The Epsom Dash (3.45) is one of my favourite races of the year. Given the speed at which they thunder down the hill it’s exhilarating and frustrating in equal measures.

You need luck in running to succeed but I cannot believe the price of Excessable. Since being gelded over the winter he’s returned with finishes of 311 and his defeat was forgivable, it was his first run on the all-weather and his first after almost 7 months off.

Since then he’s put up big speed figures at Thirsk and Redcar, the most recent quickening off a strong pace. A mark of 87 isn’t insurmountable, he was rated 94 as a two-year-old after finishing fifth in Newbury’s Super Sprint and he’s starting to fulfil that potential.
