Embankment Can Overcome Slow Start

Kempton: Embankment Can Overcome Slow Start

Embankment often loses his races at the start but this is the weakest competition he’s faced during his career.

Embankment is a hugely frustrating horse to follow, he has ability but is so bad at getting out the gates his chances are usually gone by the first furlong.

The 7-year-old has been expensive to follow over the years but if he is to win a race, it is probably the 5.45 Kempton.

Two of his three career wins have come over today’s course and distance and he drops into class 6 company for the first time.

The benefit of racing against slower horses is he has longer to reel in the leaders (assuming he falls out the gates) and his turn of foot is a potent weapon in this grade. At 10/1 (Bet365) he is worth the risk.
