Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes Tip: Nyaleti

Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes Tip: Nyaleti

Set overly strong gallop in the Chesham and did well to finish second. Big speed figure in defeat and down in trip.

September was one of the most impressive winners at Royal Ascot last month and much of the credit must go to Nyaleti for setting up the race.

Mark Johnston’s filly tore off in front, setting the race up for a closer and the opportunity to clock a fast time - which is exactly what September did.

However, Nyaleti should take a huge amount of credit for handing onto second. You don’t need sectionals to see she was heavy legged towards the end of the race but a finishing speed of 95.6% is much slower than par and a significant misjudgement of pace.

If John Egan has run a more even paced race, I estimate Nyaleti would have earned a speed figure of around 99, which is an excellent number for a juvenile on their second start. She’s got the pace for 6f and dropped down in trip she can win.
