Doncaster Tips: Kickboxer

Needs an end-to-end gallop over the minimum trip but that looks likely and he’s perfectly drawn to get a tow into the race.

Kickboxer’s defeat at Musselburgh made for ugly viewing, especially those of us who backed him at a short price.

Sam Hitchcott took plenty of flak for the ride but in truth the race wasn’t run to suit him.

Previously a winner over 6f, he needs a strong pace over the minimum trip which he didn’t get at Musselburgh and therefore got outpaced as the gallop quickened.

Kickboxer is a horse who needs stoking along and it was inevitable that he found trouble because he lacks an immediate turn of pace.

With 22-runners declared for the 3.15 Doncaster, he should get the strong pace he craves. He is also fortunate to be drawn in stall 17, sandwiched between potential front-runners Magical Macey and Peterkin.

Luke Morris was on board for his win at Haydock and his experience could make the difference at 11/1 (BetVictor).
