Doncaster Tips: Holmeswood

There’s potentially a few nice sprinters in the 3.55 Doncaster but I’m quite taken by the chances of Holmeswood.

He was only beaten a short-head on debut by Mazyoun (now rated 90) with the pair pulling 12 lengths clear of the third horse and he built on that performance by winning next time out at Newcastle.
Drawn in stall 2, he raced wider than ideal but showed an excellent turn of foot covering the final 2f in 22.35s, the fifth fastest 2f split from the last 2368 runners at the track.

The handicapper hasn’t been too harsh, giving him an opening mark of 84 and that should be within his scope having run a speed rating of 82 as a two-year-old. Much depends on how he’s wintered but he looks an exciting prospect.
