Dean & Deluca Invitational Tips: Sean O’Hair

Led the field in strokes gained tee-to-green at the Byron Nelson but was last in the putting stats. Just a moderate performance on the greens will suffice.

Last week’s golf betting was a tale of missed opportunities. CT Pan and Albin Choi had chances at the BMW Pro-Am whilst Brooks Koepka somehow managed to squander a three-shot lead at one stage in the Byron Nelson.

Away from all the heartache the most frustrating performance went under the radar. Sean O’Hair was in the top-10 heading into the final rounds at the Byron Nelson but a stone cold putter meant he finished T18.

The 33-year-old led the field in strokes gained tee-to-green but was last in strokes gained putting. If he was just average on the greens he could have won.

O’Hair isn’t a bad putter, he is ranked 64th on tour for strokes gained putting this season, it was just one of those weeks. Importantly his ball striking is on song and that is crucial at Colonial.

His course record is 26-18-MC-16-MC-63-MC but he was bang there with two to go in 2009 after opening with rounds of 65-64. He’s obviously swinging the club well and is over priced at 125/1 with Paddy Power.
