Covert Love Uncovered At Chelmsford

Covert Love Uncovered At Chelmsford

Ran well on debut last year despite being posted wide from a poor draw. Plenty of improvement expected as a 3-year-old.

William Buick eschews Chester for a good book of rides at Chelmsford this evening with Covert Love a likely winner of the 7.45 contest.

She ran a good race on debut last October, overcoming a wide draw and a steady pace (109.4% finishing speed) to finish fifth.

Before the race she was said to lack experience and that showed by the way she raced, she was very green and posted three horses wide most of the way.

After the race, Hugo Palmer wrote on his blog, ‘Maybe it might be best to just put her away and let her fill out. I’d only want to run her again if I thought we could find a maiden she could win before putting her away. Otherwise, it’s easier to start off in a maiden next year than it is to start off in a handicap.’

It is now ‘next year’ and she is in a maiden that doesn’t look especially strong. I expect Covert Love will enjoy the step up in trip and the more galloping nature of the track. At 5/1 (Bet365) we have a good bet.
