Coral Sprint Trophy Tip: Normandy Barriere
Since his juvenile days his record over 6/6.5f on going rated good to firm is 11219141. Has a big sprint handicap in him.
After his win at Doncaster, I earmarked Normandy Barriere for next year’s Wokingham but whilst there is still fast ground lurking around the UK it makes sense to strike whilst the iron is hot.
Nigel Tinkler’s sprinter can often hit a flat spot in his races but finishes strongly, which makes him ideal for the cavalry charge of a big sprint handicap. Fast ground is also important because his record at 6/6.5f on going rated good to firm (excluding his 2yo days) is 11219141.
For a sprint handicapper, he has a tremendous strike rate of 5/16 and it still improving. At Doncaster, he ran the fastest closing sectional by 0.43s and earned an impressive adjusted speed rating of 97.
The weather is set fair for York and with a large field almost guaranteeing a strong pace, he can swoop late and win.
