Coral Charge: Liberty Beach
Beaten fair and square by Battaash at Royal Ascot but no shame in that. Ran fine race with good speed rating. Previous course and distance winner and repeat of last run makes her hard to beat.
Battaash produced a performance at Royal Ascot that cemented his standing as one of the best 5f sprinters for a generation and therefore anything finishing close to him deserves credit.
Liberty Beach ran her heart out in third but just couldn’t keep pace as Battaash poured it on in front. In defeat she earned a big speed rating and she was simply beaten by a better horse. There is nothing of the same quality at Sandown and she should confirm placings with Tis Marvellous from a better draw.
She won easily over course and distance as a juvenile and if the King’s Stand race hasn’t left a mark, she should win a few nice pots away when Battaash is absent.
