Chester Tips: Kimberella

The draw at Chester has a huge influence on races, with a low starting gate a big advantage. To a certain extent this is priced into the 3.45 contest but there is another factor the market might be missing.

With the draw bias so pronounced and widely published, jockeys often work too hard to grab the inside rail. The 3.45 Chester is run over 5f16y but often horses proven over further come to the fore.

Kimberella is well drawn in stall three and three of his career wins have come at 6f although he also has the speed for the minimum trip.

Last season he won off a mark of 91, which makes him competitive off 87 this afternoon. He finished fifth on his seasonal reappearance but raced alone on the far rail, so the performance could be better than it looks at face value.
