Chester Tips: Edu Querido

Not beaten far in a Group 1 on his last start; made good progress from rear into quickening pace. Marco Botti won race in 2012 with a similar type.

The top three in the betting for the Huxley Stakes (2.15 Chester) all look vulnerable.

Telescope and Ektihaam are on the comeback trail after injury, whilst Noble Mission has the worst of the draw.

None appeal at the prices so I’m going with the outsider Edu Querido.

Having raced in Brazil and then Dubai he’s a hard horse to rate but the bookmakers haven’t even tried and left him at 33/1 (Bet365).

That is a dangerous tactic considering he was beaten only 4.5 lengths in a Group 1 on his last start.

Edu Querido: #12 Blue silks/white cap held up in rear.

Edu Querido actually deserves to be rated slightly higher than his finishing position suggests.

Held-up in rear off a steady gallop was the worst place he could be in, but the 5-year-old showed a good turn of foot to run the final 2f in 22.64s. Only Trade Storm bettered his finishing burst and Edu Querido was checked in his run up the home straight.

Marco Botti won the Huxley Stakes in 2012 with Macret, an Italian horse that arrived via Dubai and he could repeat the trick with Edu Querido.
