Chester Tips: Bush Beauty

Bush Beauty races from 1lbs out of the handicap in the 4.35 Chester but this isn’t the strongest fillies contest with 9/10 rated 75 or lower despite this being a race for 0-80 rated horses.

Bush Beauty ran a good race last time at Carlisle and is a bit better than the 3.25 length margin of defeat. After a slow start she found herself too far back in a steadily run contest (106.6% finishing speed) and then Sophie Killoran held onto her for a fraction too long.

She let the impressive winner get away (won next time out) but Bush Beauty showed good ability to clock the second fastest closing sectional. In defeat, she earned an adjusted speed rating of 70, which is 12lbs above her mark.

I understand Eric Alston’s logic of running her off a featherweight at Chester. She is a small horse and her last three wins were achieved carrying less than 9st. She is almost certainly better carrying a light weight in a better race.
