Chester Tip: Orvar
Rank outsider but he finished the 2018 season with a fine win in similair conditions at Beverley. Travelled strongly and clocked a good time. Excuses since then and well handicapped.
Based on his last run of 2018, Orvar stands a massive chance in the 1.50 Chester. His win in a conditions race at Beverley was visually impressively (travelled strongly) and achieved in a good time. It also came on going rated ‘good to soft’ which is what he should get at Chester.
His winter was spent in Dubai where he ran two fair races at Meydan but his return to turf racing in the UK didn’t go well. At Nwebury he finished a well beaten 7th and that is the concern. However, if he needed the run and he’s had 27 days to improve for it, then he looks a real danger off a mark of 96.
Being drawn 7 isn’t ideal but it’s not a total disaster either and his price is simply too big to pass up.
