Chester Tip: Doctor Sardonicus

Ran a career best on debut for Tom Dascombe. Likes a sharp 5f and perfectly drawn to track A Momentofmadness and pounce at the death.

Doctor Sardonicus carries top weight in the 1.50 Chester but races around the Roodee are more influenced by draw and running style than pounds in the saddle cloth.

Doctor Sardonicus surpised me at Wolverhampton, winning a good race in commanding style which must go down as a career best. The move to Tom Dascombe has clearly worked and the 7-year-old doesn’t have many miles on the clock.

Best leading or sitting just behind the pace, he could have the race set up for him in stall 2. I expect A Momentofmadness to lead and Martin Harley to pounce close home and win.
