Chester: Fox Hill
Fast finishing third at Catterick, earning her a big adjusted speed rating. Going likely to be quicker than current description and better at 6f she has won over a shorter trip.
In the 3.40 Chester i’m running the danger of forcing a bet because of a big speed figure but with the reward of 10/1+ on offer, I think the risk is justified.
Fox Hill bounced back from a poor showing at Leicester by finishing a close third at Catterick and earning an adjusted speed figure of 81. The race was run at a solid gallop but the filly enjoy a big upgrade because after a slow start she came home fastest by 0.36s.
Given most of her winning has come at 6f, that Catterick run fits her profile. In an ideal world i’d have her at 6f but she could pick them off if the pace is strong. The other worry is the going. She is best on a fast surface and currently the description is ‘good to soft’. That doesn’t tally with the Going Stick reading of 7.2 which is more akin to ‘good’ especially with a dry day forecast.
Her draw has improved with the non-runners and at the prices she is worth the risk.
