World Hurdle Tips: Zarkandar
Something of a forgotten horse, twice a winner on the New course at Cheltenham and has been crying out for a step up in trip.
Zarkandar never quite gets the credit he deserves. If you look at his record in the UK, it is outstanding. He’s only been outside the top-two on three occasions in 15 starts.
Two of those unplaced efforts came in the Champion Hurdle, whilst he fell the other time at Aintree.
All season he’s been crying out for a step up in trip and now that he finally tackles 3m, he is friendless in the betting.
Cheltenham switch to using the New course on Thursday and the stiffer track suits Zarkandar. He won a Triumph Hurdle and International Hurdle on the course, his sole defeat coming at the hands of The New One, when hampered in the straight.
The worry with Zarkandar is he’s lost twice to Annie Power this season but drying ground and the step up in trip could help him turnaround the form.
