Ryanair Tips: Cue Card

Has high-class form when kept to less than three miles and twice a winner at Cheltenham.

I must confess I’m a big fan of Cue Card, I’ve tipped him three times this season but he’s won two of those races and often lives up to my expectations. The 7/2 (Paddy Power) on him winning the Ryanair looks a steal.

I think First Lieutenant is a horse to take on at the head of the market. He needs at least three miles to be at his best, and seems better the further he goes. I’m surprised he’s not having a tilt at the Gold Cup because the step down in trip looks a negative.

Cue Card on the other hand will revel over 2m5f. His chase record at 2m6f or less is: 1U21211.

He unseated when going well against Grands Crus, lost by a short head to Gold Cup favourite Bobs Worth and finished 7-lengths behind the majestic Sprinter Sacre.

He’s twice earned Racing Post Ratings of 170 this season, looking particularly impressive when winning the Haldon Gold Cup by 26-lengths.

His main rival could be For Non Stop, who runs well fresh, but he’s beaten him before and can do so again.
