RSA Chase Tips: Grands Crus

Looked a genuine Gold Cup contender and on that form the RSA should be easy pickings.

Last week Grands Crus was being talking about as a potential Gold Cup winner but the return of Kauto Star has seen connections wisely revert to the original plan of the RSA. The one surprise is that at 6/4 (Bet365) he isn’t shorter in the betting. If he really was considered Gold Cup material then surely this is a penalty kick?

Bobs Worth has been talked up as the main danger because of his Cheltenham record but I’m not convinced. Yes he is 3/3 at Cheltenham but Grands Crus is 3/4 with his only defeat coming against Big Buck’s in last years World Hurdle - not exactly shabby form!

More importantly, Grands Crus finished ahead of Bobs Worth in their last meeting and I can’t see the form being turned around. When the race steps up a gear Bobs Worth’s jumping becomes less fluent, and he cannot afford mistakes around Cheltenham.  I’m not convinced First Lieutenant or Join Together are quite good enough leaving Grands Crus as the sensible bet. He looks like an evens money shot to me and is therefore value at 6/4 with Bet365.
