RSA Chase Tip: Might Bite

RSA Chase Tip: Might Bite

Fell at the last at Kempton when looking impressive. If returns to that form and stays on his feet, he will be hard to beat.

Forming an opinion based on something that didn’t happen can be dangerous in betting but that is the key to solving the RSA Chase.

Might Bite hasn’t beaten anything of note in three small novice chases but he was about to show his class when falling at the last in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Jumping is part of the game, so no excuses there but Might Bite was 18 lengths clear and on the verge of winning very impressively. Royal Vacation picked up the pieces and has won again since boosting the form that was never was.

If Might Bite had stayed on his feet at Kempton I estimate him running a speed figure of 140+ and an official rating of 165+ good enough to win an average renewal of the RSA Chase.

He’s lightly raced, has experience of Cheltenham (novice hurdle winner at the track) and his jumping is normally sound. If he’d won at Kempton he’d be close to even money and therefore is worth the risk. Back him at 7/2 with Paddy Power and we get our money back as a free bet if he finishes second.
