Cheltenham Tips: Poquelin

Last five wins have come at Cheltenham and the handicapper has dropped him to an attractive mark.

Poquelin’s last five wins have come at the track and he’s slipped to a handicap mark that makes him a contender in the 4.00 Cheltenham.

Aged 10, he’s possibly not as good as he used to be, but on his first start of the season he earned a Racing Post Rating of 162. His joint seventh highest rating in 22 chase starts.

He’s obviously still a very useful handicapper and racing over his optimal trip, on quicker ground, he could better that run.

His last two performances have been below par, but they were on soft ground on Cheltenham’s Old Course and both were forgiveable. As a result he is down to a handicap mark of 155, his lowest in almost four years.

Poquelin looks well handicapped and at 25/1 (Bet365) he is a cracking each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-4 finish.
