Cheltenham Tips: Pont Alexandre

Won two Grade races by wide margins this season and a hugely exciting prospect.

Pont Alexandre has always looked a smart horse in the making and it is difficult to oppose him in the 2.05 Cheltenham.

He has won his two hurdle starts this season by a combined 24 lengths but they weren’t soft races, they were Grade 1 and Grade 2 contests. The in-running comments give a good indication of his dominance, with his wins described as coming ‘easily’ and ‘comfortably’.

Connections have followed a similar route to Mikael D’Haguenet, winner of the race in 2009. He was a very good horse but they might have unearthed a better one. At 2/1 (William Hill) he looks the best bet.
