Chelmsford Tips: Teajaybe

Impressive winner on debut for Mick Appleby, his first start in 7 months. Can transfer his form from Southwell to Chelmsford whilst the surface rides deep.

Last week the experiment of backing a Southwell specialist at Chelmsford City paid off, with Royal Bajan winning.

It is a theory worth persevering with whilst the surface at the Essex track is riding deep.

Teajaybe was a 3.5-length winner at Southwell last time and although he’s received a 15lbs hike by the handicapper there are legitimate reasons why he could defy his new mark.

Teajaybe was having his first start for Michael Appleby and after the race the trainer suggested there was probably more to come, after all it had been his first start in 7 months.

Appleby is enjoying a phenomenal winter and with a 26% strike rate in February his horses are best kept onside.

The manner of Teajaybe victory was impressive, he ran a fast time for the grade and finished full of running, he could have done another lap!

The market seem put off by his revised mark but he is still eligible for class 4 races and is good value at 10/3 (Boylesports) in a four horse race.
