Chelmsford Tips: Spiritual Star
Improved every run for Lee Carter on the all-weather. Has fallen to an attractive mark and ran fastest closing sectional last time.
Spiritual Star made an inauspicious start for Lee Carter when he was pulled-up at Lingfield in June having bled from the nose. Nothing much happened thereafter on turf but a return to the all-weather, his favourite surface, hints at a more profitable future.
Once rated in the 100s, he is nowhere near that good anymore but a class 5 handicap is within his reach. He’s had three starts on an artificial surface this autumn and has improved with every run.
Last time out at Kempton he finished second in a good time for the grade and was the last horse off the bridle. Unfortunately, the winner got first run but Spiritual Star clocked the fastest closing sectional in the race.
With 15 runners going to post he should get the good pace he needs and although stall 11 will take some navigating he is a past course and distance winner.
