Chelmsford Tips: Serenade The Stars
Punted on first start in a handicap but winner got an easy lead and just failed by a short head. Compensation awaits.
The gamble went awry on Serenade The Stars last time at Wolverhampton but it wasn’t for the want of trying. Martin Harley threw everything at his mount but came up second by a short-head.
The 7.00 Chelmsford is the recovery mission, but James Tate’s colt looks generously handicapped off a mark of 60.
Last time out he was beaten by the pace of the race. They went steady early on (107.7% finishing speed) and Serenade The Stars was forced to accelerate into a quickening pace. He ran the fastest closing sectional but the winner saved enough energy after been allowed a soft lead.
In defeat, I gave Serenade The Stars an adjusted speed rating of 68 and that should be good enough to win off 60.
