Chelmsford Tips: Lady Bacchus

Chelmsford Tips: Lady Bacchus

Beat only four horses home in her first six starts but much improved when running over course and distance nine days ago. Just beaten in a head-bob and should go close again.

The 8.40 Chelmsford is a bad race but Lady Bacchus deserves compensations from nine days ago. Racing over course and distance she was beaten a short-head in a bunch finish and a repeat of that performance will see her go close.

A neck separated Lady Bacchus and Burauq in third and they face each other again off level weights. That would suggest they finish side by side again but Lady Bacchus raced the hard way.

Tracking a strong pace, she didn’t get the clearest of passages as the leaders tired but she was still holding Burauq at the line, despite the latter conserving more energy during the earlier part of the contest.

Richard Guest’s three-year-old was hopeless in her young career, beating just four horses home in her first six starts but the penny seems to have dropped and there might be more to come.
