Chelmsford Tips: Cappananty Con
Lack of pace and a clear passage cost him the race at Lingfield but is up to winning in this grade.
When racing at 6f, Cappananty Con’s record is 212 and he was desperately unlucky last time out at Lingfield.
Held-up in rear behind a steady gallop (104.6% race finishing speed), Robert Winston had to wait for a gap before delivering his late charge in the home-straight. Unfortunately, the winner got first run on him and despite closing with a 22.21s sectional, he came up short by 0.25 lengths.
Granted a clear run or a stronger pace I’m sure Cappananty Con would have won and an adjusted speed rating of 82 is usually good enough to win a class 4 handicap.
Twice in a row Cappananty Con has shown a devastating finishing burst and if he handles Chelmsford, he should regain the winning thread.
