Chelmsford Tips: Cacica

Chelmsford Tips: Cacica

Tracked a strong gallop at Wolverhampton but travelled notably well and a 5lbs rise in the weights won’t be enough to stop her winning again.

Winning from the front can sometimes underestimate the ability of a horse and that seems the case with Cacica. She’s been put up 5lbs for her win at Wolverhampton but there was plenty to like about the performance.

The pace was solid, with Cacica’s finishing speed 100.7% of her average race speed but the way she travelled she could have gone quicker. From a wide draw she tracked the pace but whereas the earlier leaders faded into eighth and ninth respectively Cacica kept going.

The 3-year-old covered the first 10.23f in 131.75s, that is the 23rd fastest split from the last 654 runners over course and distance. That early pace is usually hard to sustain from the front. Only six horses have been leading with 2f to go having set a stronger pace and next time out they finished 413115.

It is apparent that Cacica won the hard way and the fact she won comfortably marks her out as potentially useful. A drop down in trip shouldn’t be a problem and with Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle again she can win.
