Pearl Spectre carries top-weight in the 7.45 Chelmsford but he’s won off the mark before and was rated even higher in the spring. At his best over 7f on the all-weather, his record in class 4 contests is 3 wins from 16 starts, with a further three placed efforts.
Last time out he finished a close second at Southwell and before that was only beaten 2.5 lengths over course and distance at Chelmsford. His defeat at the Essex venue saw him set a strong early pace and earn a sectional adjusted speed rating of 82. He should be thereabouts again.
