Charlie Says – Better On The All-Weather
Ignore his turf form because his last two runs over course and distance have been excellent, clocking 21.79s and 21.83s closing sectionals.
Diamond Charlie’s recent form has been moderate but he is nowhere near as good on turf so it is best ignored. Connections have found him a 5f sprint on the all-weather and that is much more his cup of tea.
Last time he raced over course and distance he was only beaten 0.75 lengths and ran a cracker in defeat. In race where the pace was on the steady side, he clocked a blistering 21.83s closing sectional, the fastest of the race and the meeting.
That was the second good performance in a row at Lingfield having run a 21.79s closing sectional on the 25 February. In defeat he’s earned adjusted sectional speed ratings of 77-79 usually good enough to win a class 4 handicap, especially off a mark of 73.
His style of racing makes him a hostage to fortune but he has the right man on board in Luke Morris.
