Catterick Tips: Free Zone

Normally comes alive on soft ground at the end of the season and finished a fine second at York last weekend.

October is often a difficult time of year to pick winners, the ground turns soft and horses start to lose form – this isn’t the case with Free Zone.

When racing in September and October with soft in the going description his record is 15214002.

After an underwhelming summer he bounced back to form with a second place at York eight days ago. It might have been the application of cheek-pieces that sparked a revival but this is his time of year.

Normally when it comes up soft at Catterick, 5f runners gravitate to the nearside rail but I expect Adam Beschizza to stay on the far side from stall 1.

It is hard to know which side will have the better ground but if the field splits Free Zone will enjoy dominating a small group of runners. At 6/1 (Bet365) he is a good bet.
