Catterick Tips: Chosen One

Last run ignored because of a protracted pace duel. Before that he was a course and distance winner.

Chosen One was an impressive winner over course and distance two runs ago and I see no reason to desert him in the 3.10 Catterick.

After sliding down the handicap he romped home by 2.75 lengths, in a quick time for the grade. Although he steps up to class 5 level today, he’s been good enough to win in higher company in the past.

I’m surprised the bookmakers have written him off after his last run at Ayr. The race was never going to suit him. Racing over 6f, as opposed to today’s 5f, he was caught in a fierce pace duel with Alpha Tauri. They ended up filling the last two positions between them. Forgive that last run and at 13/2 (William Hill) he suddenly looks good value.
