Since joining Richard Fahey, Masterpaver has finished 3112 and could win connections a nice pot in the 4.40 Carlisle.

The level of improvement hasn’t been totally unfathomable. Masterpaver is rated in the high 80s on the all-weather and Richard Fahey has simply managed to translate that ability onto turf.

Last time out he was beaten in an amateur race at York but that was on account of the strong pace more than anything else. His finishing speed was 96.9% of his average race speed, which means he was slowing down in the final 3f. Considering one of his fellow pacesetters was pulled up and the other finished 11.6 lengths behind, Masterpaver did extremely well to finish second by half a length.

Tony Hamilton should ensure a more even distribution of pace and his mount still looks well handicapped off a mark of 78.
