British Champions Sprint: Bacchus

Won over course and distance in the Wokingham and is 2/2 on soft ground. Record when racing after a 50+ day break is 611. Underrated by the layers.

A combination of the time of year, horses going over the top and the soft ground make the British Champions Sprint a difficult race to gauge. None of the main protagonists have blown me away this season, certainly on the clock and i’m rolling the dice with Bacchus.

He’s always been a talented, if not straightforward horse and his win in the Wokingham was impressive. Since then he’s gone off the boil but it might be that he is best fresh. His record after a break of 50+ days is 611 whilst his record on soft ground is 11.

He obviously likes the track (also finished ninth in the 2017 Jersey) and he’s not got that much to find on official ratings considering his price.
