Brighton Tips: Roman Legion
Slowly into stride on debut but finished the race strongly with the second fastest sectional and should improve over further.
Dean Ivory and Robert Winston have struck up a productive partnership over the last couple of seasons and so far in 2016 enjoy a 27% strike-rate (16-59) and a level stakes profit.
They team up in the 2.15 Brighton with Roman Legion who promises to improve on his debut run. He wasn’t fancied ten days ago when sent off at 25/1 and promptly blew the start.
Considering he was already 10 lengths behind before when hit the first bend, he did extremely well to only be beaten by 5.5 lengths. This was achieved by running the second fastest closing sectional of the race, 0.44s clear of the third best closer despite being hampered near the finish.
On breeding, he should improve as he steps up in trip and the experience should stand him in good stead. Last time he earned a sectional adjusted ratings of 61 but given his slow start and having to switch in the home-straight he could be a 70+ horse at least.
