Brighton Tip: Maximum Power
The market has overplayed the ability of the front-two in the betting and it's worth taking a chance on an unraced outsider in an open contest.
The market for the 2.30 Brighton is formed around experienced horses and big yards but i’m happy to take on the top-2 in the betting. Haylah and Global Passion hail from good yards but they are already looked exposed. The pair are rated 70 and 78 respectively and that is their level, if they were world beaters they’d probably have more than 1 win in 9 starts between them.
I’m desperately looking for something to oppose them with but those who have already seen a race track might have modest appeal therefore i’m taking a chance on Maximum Power. Carrying the colours of Lil Rockerfeller, this French-bred gelding has speed in his pedigree and might just have a bit of ability. Tim Pinfield might be an unfamiliar name to many but he’s got a good CV having trained in the US and Singapore.
He won the Dubai Golden Shaheen with Big Jag in 2000 so he knows his way around a sprinter. In a race more open than the market suggests, he is worth a punt.
