Brighton Tip: Evanescent
Won off this mark over course and distance last October and the overnight rain further increases his chances.
Brighton is forecast to receive a fair amount of rain tonight and if that gets into the ground then we could have conditions that are softer than the good to firm currently recorded. That is good news for Evanescent who is 3/12 when racing on going rated soft.
Last time out he finished a credible third, only beaten 2.25 lengths in a class 4 handicap. His finishing speed that day was 97.2% of his overall speed, slower than par for the track and the better horses probably meant he was forced to go a stride to quick.
In the 5.00 Brighton he drops into class 5 company, where is 4/15 during his career. Having won over course and distance off the same mark last October, he should go well again.
