Betway Bowl Tip: Bristol De Mai
Brilliant in the Betfair Chase but disappointing thereafter. Depends which Bristol De Mai turns up but had wind surgery and that could be the difference.
Bristol De Mai is a talented but fragile horse but he’s one I still hold plenty of faith in. Early in the season he looked a world beater, taking the Charlie Hall then demolishing his rivals in the Betfair Chase and earning a Racing Post Rating of 182.
He disappointed in the King George and although a bit better in the Cotswold Chase, he was still below his very best. Looking at his form there is a possibility that he needs bottomless ground, preferably at Haydock to show his best but I wonder if there are other issues at play.
He returns to Aintree after wind surgery and if it was a health issue that produced his in-and-out form then perhaps we will see a return to his brilliant best. At the prices he is worth the risk.
