Bath Tips: Belledesert
Won over course and distance at end of last season but couldn’t double up when going too fast in soft conditions on her seasonal reappearance.
After a wet start to the turf season we are getting more consistent summer ground and the good to firm going at Bath could make all the difference to Belledesert.
A previous course and distance winner at the back-end of last season, she faced completely different conditions on her seasonal reappearance 33 days ago.
Ridden prominently, she was unable to sustain a strong pace on soft ground and lost several places near the finish as she tired badly. Her finishing speed of 96.3% was much slower than par but she did well to finish fifth considering her fellow pacesetters filled the last two positions.
She is 5lbs higher than when she won as a two-year-old but this isn’t the deepest race and she has speed ratings to her name that suggest she is capable of better.
