Bath Tip: Rose Hip

Lightly raced progressive filly. Winner over course and distance, earning adjusted speed rating of 71. Manner of victory suggests she can step up in grade.

After winning over course and distance 23 days ago jockey Tom Marquand described Rose Hip as, “she is pretty smart. She is better than a Class 5 race without a shadow of a doubt.”

Jockeys aren’t always the best judges but we can refer to the clock for confirmation or otherwise. In this case Tom Marquand is probably correct. Despite only having two rivals and them going at only a moderate gallop, Rose Hip was still able to record a good speed rating for the grade. She quickened nicely, with the fastest closing sectional and adjusting for the steady pace I gave her a speed rating of 72.

Her rating is now 74 and she is up in grade this afternoon but she is lightly raced and the manner of her victory suggest there is more to come.
