Bath Tip: Cappananty Con
Ran well for new yard at Lingfield; caught in shadow of the post. Tracked a strong pace and recorded a good speed figure. Better on the all-weather but able to exploit a lenient turf mark.
Awsaaf rattled off a hat-trick of wins last season and is weighted to do the same again but he might have met his match in Cappananty Con.
The 6-year-old was slightly unlucky to be caught on the line by Rewaayat at Lingfield, in a race that was run at a strong gallop and a repeat of that performance (adjusted speed figure of 61) could see him win very soon.
Still a maiden on turf, you can understand why connections are trying to exploit a lenient mark of 53. Clearly he is a better horse on the all-weather but he has run well on grass before, mainly at Windsor and this isn’t the strongest class 6 handicap.
