Ayr Tips: Algar Lad
Last time he raced against this level of competition he was a facile three lengths winner. Hard too see anything other than a repeat of that victory.
There has been a disappointing turnout for the 5.00 Ayr but that shouldn’t worry connections of Algar Lad.
It is a rare treat to have a class 3 sprint on a Monday but the entrants are well below the handicap ceiling with Algar Lad carrying top-weight despite being rated 86.
Last time out he finished a good fifth in the Gosforth Park Cup despite racing wide and getting little cover. This afternoon’s race represents a significant drop in class and is a similar test to the race he won at Leicester by three lengths.
There shouldn’t be any traffic problems in a small field and whichever way the race is run, fast or slow, I cannot see him getting beat.
