Ascot Tips: Winning Way
Finished third behind Bacchus at Newbury but best horse on day after adjusting for pace.
Winning Ways finished half a length behind Bacchus at Newbury but I can see him turning around the form and taking the 7.15 Ascot.
For a big field at Newbury they went a surprisingly pedestrian early gallop which didn’t help Winning Ways who was held up at the back. The race turned into a sprint finish but despite running the fastest closing sectional by 0.22s and making up 6.6 lengths, he couldn’t quite get to the winner.
A strong pace isn’t guaranteed at Ascot either but the stiff finish should help and Jeremy Noseda’s colt looks better than his rating of 84.
